1. Do Not move the vehicles unless there is a
potential
for the cause of further accidents
2. Assist the injured and call the local police so as to
document the incident.
3. Be sure to take control of the accident-reporting
process to the responding officer. Document the
date, time, and any witness information.
4. Be sure to obtain the following information:
- Driver's name, address & phone number
- Driver's license plate number
- Name of insurance company &
policy
for all vehicles
- Driver's license information
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Make, model, year & color of vehicle
- Police report or incident report number
5. Do Not discuss whether you are injured, since
some
injuries do not manifest until days-weeks later.
6. Do Not admit liability OR apologize at the scene of
the accident.
7. Get to a hospital emergency room to be examined.
8. Contact your own choice of physician for medical
follow-up, as soon as possible.
9. Report the accident to the insurance companies,
as soon as possible.
